water damage works

Dec 28, 2012 by Kelly & Graham Rose

In october we suffered a massive burst from a mains water pipe, we contacted 1 stop building services after recommendations.

Jason Halzelton and Paul Venables even at the start of our huge ordeal went over and above board and came to our premises out of hours to estimate for the works.

Jason and Paul really assisted and proceeded with the renovations works immediaitely to ensure our family could be back in our property just in time for Christmas.

During the whole ordeal and even with tight time constraints Jason and Paul carried out their expert workmanship to perfection.

We would throughly recommend 1st stop to any persons wishing to undertake any general building works , its really difficult these days to source a builder of genuine skills and workmanship.

We are all completely satisfied with our new home and 1st stop made a very stressful experience easier.

Huge thanks

Emergency Repairs

Sep 24, 2012 by Andy & Jacqui Thornton

1 Stop Builders were recommended to us for some emergency repair work after our Kitchen ceiling came down due to a water leak from the shower. I cannot praise their service highly enough. They turned up on time, liaised with insurers on our behalf, phoned when they said they would and kept us informed at all times. Jason and Paul were experienced and more than knowledgeable about their subject. They were diligent, proficient, tidy workmen who charged exactly what was quoted - no hidden extra's and they went more than the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction! Will definitely be using them again.

Garden house

Sep 24, 2012 by Robert & Jacqui Vickery

We would just like to say how pleased we have been with the work undertaken by Paul and Jason at One Stop. Our project was to construct a garden house incorporating an office. The slate pitched roof was suggested by them as a feature to enhance the building and we have been delighted with the design, construction and indeed the entire finish which has exceeded our expectations. Our building, being clearly visible from the rear of our house meant that we wanted it to enhance the garden space whilst ensuring that it would also be functional. The use of the cedar cladding and the inclusion of the oak porch has made it look so welcoming. The slate roof is actually not slate at all but a revolutionary imitation product that is a fraction of the weight or indeed the cost of using real slate - even up close you can not tell the difference!

We found One Stop to be professional, skilled and imaginative. We can not stress how delighted we are with the finished project which was delivered within our budget and on time. We certainly intend to use them again for our proposed loft conversion next year.

New Balcony

Sep 05, 2012 by Julie

Paul Venables and Jason Hazelton were recommended to us with a view to constructing a balcony on an existing flat roof at the rear of our property.
At our initial meeting we were impressed with their relaxed but thorough approach, sufficiently so that we asked them to quote for undertaking some structural alterations on the ground floor and replacing our kitchen, in addition to the balcony.

There followed a series of meetings where all aspects of the work were thoroughly considered and options discussed.
Paul and Jason proposed that we have the kitchen units constructed on a bespoke basis by Alan Tideswell of Cabinet Creations. Alan joined the discussions and ensured that we ended up with exactly what we wanted, rather than ‘making standard sized units fit’.
My initial thoughts were that we seemed to spend an inordinate amount of time planning the job. I soon became aware that time spent planning is rarely wasted, and that quite simply they had thought of everything.

Paul and Jason insisted that we had a written agreement of what exactly was to be done with a clear single price for the whole job. They also insisted that each stage would be complete and signed off before making any stage payments, with the final payment not made until the job was completed to our entire satisfaction. The price compared favourably with other ‘quality’ designers/installers.
The whole job was completed in six weeks, exactly as predicted, with all the trades being well project managed by Paul and Jason, in addition to doing a lot of the work themselves.

Clearly replacing a kitchen necessitates a lot of disruption; however this was kept to a minimum and at no stage were we without a functioning sink and a washing machine.

Paul and Jason proved to be adept at liaising with Council Building Control and with the surveyor who had taken the balcony application through planning consent. Indeed they made suggestions which improved the design of the kitchen and were accepted by the Authorities.
Everything about this job was well managed; the fitting out of the balcony, the construction of the kitchen units, the structural changes, the plastering, the electrics, the tiling, the decoration, the fitting of the units and installation of the granite work tops and the appliances.
Throughout the whole job Paul and Jason were unfailingly polite, considerate, hard working and helpful. In fact it was a pleasure to have them around.

I have no hesitation in recommending them highly for whatever work is being considered. They do live up to their strapline;

The Lodge, Canewdon

Sep 05, 2012 by Clive H Rolfe

I am writing regarding the work recently carried out at The Lodge, Canewdon. Initially we took this very much on trust as all we provided you with were the agreed dimensions and our vision of a finished building. Having had the benefit of the completed work for some time now we can honestly say that our trust was well placed.

Not only did you advise on the construction, choice of materials and design, you provided a finished product that has far exceeded our expectations. The structure has certainly been built to last and yet this was achieved well within budget with us being provided with up to date costing at every stage of the construction. My wife was particularly impressed by the care shown throughout the duration of the build to ensure everything was left as neat and tidy as the nature of the work permitted.

The craftsmanship, and most of all, the attention to detail, has allowed the building to blend perfectly with the surroundings.

With grateful thanks from Chris and myself,

Clive H Rolfe. F.L.S. M.I.M.I.
